Maurer MD\u202fis an internationally recognized expert for the treatment of sleep disorders, in particular obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. He is Director of the Division of Sleep Medicine of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital in Mannheim, University of Heidelberg. Furthermore, he teaches at the University of Applied Sciences, Mannheim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Maurer has authored more than 150 original research articles, review articles, and book chapters on OSA and snoring in many scientific and medical journals.\u202fHe edited a textbook on sleep medicine and is associate editor of \u201cSleep and Breathing\u201d and \u201cSomnology\u201d. He regularly appraises sleep disorders centers, is examiner for applicants in sleep disorders specialisation, and course director \u201cDiagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His research focuses on pathophysiology and functional treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. He is a primary investigator in several clinical trials for all available<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation Systems as well as other innovative treatments.\u202fFor 15 years he supports and launches an ENT-Department with residents\u2019 training in the District Hospital of Ruli and the University Hospital in Kigali, Rwanda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Dr Joachim T.
