Dr Jean-Michel Arnal is senior intensivist in Hopital Sainte Musse, Toulon, France. He is working part time as a medical research manager in the research and development department of Hamilton Medical, Switzerland. After medical school in Paris, he specialized in anesthesiology, medical intensive care and hyperbaric medicine in Marseille. He has settled a home ventilation unit which is taking care of patients ventilated at home for COPD, obesity hypoventilation syndrome and neuromuscular diseases. This center is pioneer in France for telemonitoring the long-term NIV patients.
Dr Arnal has published around 90 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and 10 chapters in books, with his primary interest being in mechanical ventilation, ARDS, close loop ventilation and non-invasive ventilation in acute and chronic settings. He has published in 2018 a book about “monitoring mechanical ventilation using ventilator waveforms” published by Springer.
He is a lecturer at national and international meetings. He has created some workshop to teach home care ventilation with different cursus for nurse, physiotherapist, homecare providers, and pulmonologist.
